Our service
Listeners
- New listeners normally come to us by way of Angus Council Social Work and Health Department though we are always ready to hear from anyone who feels they would benefit from our service or would like to refer a friend, neighbour or relative to us. Please see under CONTACT US
- A free CD/memory stick is sent every month and is yours to keep. It is sent in a yellow wallet, which should be returned promptly by Freepost.
- The CDs play in any CD player, laptop or PC, and they also work in the Daisy Reader supplied from the RNIB for their talking book Service (see LINKS). Memory sticks need a USB port
How the service works
- We are a charitable organisation run entirely by volunteers, operating throughout Angus producing local news for blind and partially sighted people in both CD and USB stick formats.
- The Association was established in 1982 by the late Stan Letton of Brechin and the service has been continuous ever since apart from a short hiatus during the Covid pandemic.
- With the amalgamation of all the Angus local newspapers into the one publication, The Angus County Press, from 2023 the volunteer group, based in Brechin, produce one monthly edition covering the whole of Angus.
